Goat Coats and Other Regretsy Fun

My friend Rebecca who runs Brigolante Guest Apartments in Umbria, Italy and also writes a wonderful blog recently sent me a link to this entry on Regretsy:

Pink Leopard Goat Coat

Pink Leopard Goat Coat from Furbabies Boutique on Etsy

Yes, that’s a goat coat made of “Pink Leopard fleece with contrast pink fleece. Fringed edges, velcro closures at neck and tummy.” It’s already been sold, but you can get the pattern if you’d like to make one yourself. Indeed, Furbabies Boutique has quite a few rather adorable sewing and crochet patterns — and not just for animal clothes but also fun socks, which actually make me want to learn to crochet.

Regretsy exists to poke fun at some of the items for sale on Etsy, but in all seriousness, if I lived in a colder climate, I’d put coats on my goats too — I don’t know that I’d go pink leopard fleece, but Clowee the pygmy in the photo really works it! I just don’t know if my girls are *that* into pink.

Now ponchos for chicks? Those I’m not so sure about….

Do your goats wear coats?

Can you recommend goat coats for other readers who might be in the market (and not looking to sew)?

If someone needs a goat coat Texan (http://texan.blogspot.com/) makes beautiful coats for kids or dogs. I confess, my goats are neglected. As long as they are healthy, they are smart enough to be born with a winter coat if necessary, so a coat isn’t necessary as long as they have shelter and a good healthy mom.

Thanks for the link, Teresa! I have a feeling if one wants a pink leopard fleece coat for one’s goat, we’re out of the realm of “function” at that point 😉

Lucky Nickel did a blog post today about how neglected she is. I am so glad she didn’t see that goat coat first – it would have made it even more outrageous! She is so deprived.

Yes, best we don’t share such photos with the girls….

Hello! My Mom just told me about this – I made Lil’ Dayna’s Chicken Poncho! It was featured on the cover and in the Regretsy book . It was actually a crocheted bracelet I made with my handmade yarn… it just looked so cute on my little chick – I took a picture & put it in my etsy shop & before I knew it, I was getting email from April Winchell – it was all such a great experience! Glad to see it still makes people happy 🙂

That is too funny — how could a chick in a poncho NOT make someone smile? With any luck we’ll have some chicks here later this month, so perhaps a celebratory poncho is in order…hmmm…. thanks for coming by, Jen!
