Goat Eats

Here I’m keeping a running list of what Pasqualina and Pinta like to eat.

I think it’ll be fun especially for fellow goat caretakers to see what other goats like, and also for those not very familiar to goats, to understand them a little better. Just like people, not all goats have the same tastes, so I’m interested in finding out what *your* goats like and don’t like too. Please share!

KEY = ** means “really loves”

NOM NOM NOM

  1. Acacia
  2. Apples (fruit and peel; will only eat a half an apple or less in one treat session)
  3. ** Bananas (fruit and peel)
  4. Bread bits
  5. Goats and cantaloupe

    *So* happy to get cantaloupe rinds!

  6. Cantaloupe rinds
  7. Carrots
  8. Cucumbers (and peel)
  9. Fava bean pods
  10. ** Fava beans (dried)
  11. ** Fennel (wild)
  12. Fig leaves and figs (very much in moderation)
  13. Grapevines and grapes
  14. Green beans
  15. ** Loquats (whole, including seeds/pit)
  16. Oak leaves
  17. Olive tree leaves
  18. ** Pea pods
  19. Pears
  20. ** Prickly pear cactus (the cactus part; hasn’t had the fruit yet)
  21. Plums (spits out pit)
  22. ** Raisins
  23. Tomatoes (Goat Berries reader had a goat die from eating tomato tops, so be careful!)
  24. Watermelon and watermelon rinds

TURN UP THEIR NOSES

  1. Cantaloupe fruit and seeds (Pasqualina only)
  2. Strawberries
