My heart goes out to your sweet Pasqualina, Michelle and P.
She looks so sweet and brave here. As one who celebrates the meaning of Christmas β although not necessarily all the organized religion rules (after I did my volunteer work on Christmas morning I spent the entire day and night in bed, exhausted from the events of the past week surrounding the death of my friend’s mother) β I find that your image of Pasqualina reminds me of a homily I heard many years ago.
It was a given at a 7:30 AM Christmas Mass and there were only about 5 or 6 people in attendance. The celebrant remarked on how quiet it was after the pomp and circumstance at the Midnight Mass, which had been celebrated the pervious night. He went on to say that the Holy Family must’ve been overwhelmed by the jubilation surrounding the birth of their son, and, probably valued the quiet of the Christmas morning. For it is written, that Mary, “pondered these things in her heart . . .”
It seems in your photograph, that Pasqualina is pondering things in heart, in this instance of course, it is not the joy of the birth of a child, but, rather a death. Later as we know Mary lost her child too, and would once again. “ponder things in her heart”.
I have been thinking of you and yours, and will be sending you a private email with a photograph of a goat ornament that I’d like to get for you, but am unsure about where to send it.
Meanwhile, I truly appreciate seeing this lovely picture of your sweetheart, Pasqualina!
